Like so many others, I had good intentions when I started this blog almost 3 months ago and guess what? I wrote one entry! haha :) Oh well, the only reason I remembered I had even started this was because a friend commented on my original one recently. This has motivated me to update my blog so here goes:
I started seriously cutting back and eating healthier a couple of days after Christmas. I knew if I was going to run a 5k, it would be easier if I got some weight off. So far, I've lost 19 lbs since Christmas! I've got another 20 I'd like to lose but I'm so proud of myself for my success thus far. And, last Saturday I completed my first 5k. Now, I've walked 8 miles at once for March of Dimes, and I'm not a complete stranger to exercising. But in my 29 years, I've rarely jogged more than a mile without stopping. At the 5k last week, I jogged 2 miles without stopping, took a 2 minute break and walked, and then finished the race. Crossing the finish line was a very rewarding and emotional experience. Partly because I finished, also because my dad ran the race with me. Having his support has been a huge part of me making this work.
Please stay tuned...I'm so busy with two jobs right now but I hope to get back on here. It motivates me and helps keep me focused. Maybe it will do the same for others :)
